Sabbath, February 15, 2014

With a blanket of about 18 inches of snow outside and with new snow falling, we met for Sabbath School and the Worship Hour at the Holt’s home in Camden on Gauley. We wish you could have been with us to enjoy the peaceful beauty outside and the sweet fellowship inside, but we were happy for all who could join us by the Internet or on the telephone. Your presence brings us great joy.

Following prayer, Sabbath School began with song service and a science demonstration by Pastor Allen, using string and ice cubes to illustrate the dangers of associating with sin and becoming a part of that which we associate.

The youth then separated for their class and continued their lesson on David, focusing on two of David’s sons—Amnon and Absalom, and we concluded with another story of God caring for his people by providing gardens ready to be harvested soon after their being planted. You may find links to the slides for this Sabbath School here.

A promise for parents: “. . . for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them” (Isaiah 65:22, 23).

And for grandparents: “Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith the LORD, and with your children’s children will I plead” ( Jeremiah 2:9).

The Worship Hour included prayer, an opening hymn, and then intercessory prayer by Brother Leon Holt. Pastor Allen Stump shared the message of the hour, entitled “Atonement for Sin.” You can listen to this encouraging sermon here, and the second part of this sermon will be presented next week.

We invite you to join our online and telephone conference services each week--Sabbath Song Service at 9:15 am EST Sabbath morning, Youth Sabbath School at 9:40 a.m. EST Sabbath morning, Worship Service at 11:00 a.m. EST Sabbath Morning, Story Hour at 7:00 p.m. EST Monday, and Prayer Meeting at 7:00 p.m. EST Wednesday. You can access the services listed above by using the following link: http://webmeetinglogin.com/go/church/services or you may call 619-326-2730 and enter conference room #755896 when prompted.

May God richly bless you until we meet again.
